Ericsson and Zain Jordan have unveiled the next phase of their long-term strategic partnership, focusing on a major transformation of Zain’s Business Support Systems (BSS).
The modernization initiative is designed to prepare Zain Jordan’s IT infrastructure for the demands of the 5G era while elevating digital service delivery for its customers. This latest phase expands the scope of the collaboration to encompass the postpaid line of business, aiming to enable new revenue streams across multiple consumer segments. The project involves a full-scale enhancement of Zain Jordan’s BSS infrastructure through several key technical deployments.
Zain Jordan will upgrade to cloud-native Ericsson Billing, running on Red Hat OpenShift within its private cloud environment, to improve processing speed, scalability, and cost efficiency while supporting agile monetization frameworks for 5G connectivity. Furthermore, the deployment of Ericsson’s Telco DataOps Platform will introduce real-time data streaming and proactive customer experience management capabilities.
This creates a foundation for data-driven network optimization and lays the groundwork for AI-driven autonomous network operations. Additionally, the integration of catalog and order management systems for postpaid products will transition the operator to a catalog-driven model, significantly accelerating the time-to-market for innovative digital offers.
Wessam Abu Hashhash, Chief Technology and Digital Innovation Officer at Zain Jordan, stated that advancing the IT stack to a cloud-native and data-driven architecture serves as a strategic milestone. “This transformation will further elevate the customer experience while reinforcing our leadership in the digital services landscape and establishing a future-ready foundation to unlock the full potential of the 5G era,” Abu Hashhash noted.
Ahsan Quaderi, Country Manager and Head of Sales for Ericsson Jordan, highlighted that the upgraded cloud-native BSS portfolio will support Zain Jordan’s ambitions to drive outcomes-based advancements. Quaderi added that the collaboration aims to implement more agile, efficient, and scalable technology to foster a dynamic digital future in the Kingdom.
The modernization effort underpins Ericsson’s role in assisting Zain Jordan with building a flexible and scalable digital ecosystem. By leveraging the advanced BSS portfolio, the operator aims to establish a robust foundation for differentiated connectivity services and superior digital experiences.
