Veeam Software, the Data and AI Trust Company, announced the general availability of Veeam Data Cloud Vault Archive at VeeamON Sydney. The new archival-class cloud tier joins the Veeam Data Cloud Vault family to provide secure, compliant, and long-term backup retention using archive-class economics.
The solution allows organizations to move redundant, obsolete, and trivial data, referred to as ROT data, away from expensive premium storage. By utilizing Veeam Vault Archive, businesses can securely shift aged backups and large unstructured data sets into a lower-cost tier while ensuring the information remains resilient, private, compliant, and recoverable.
Working alongside the newly available Veeam Data Platform v13.1, customers can tier older backups based on policy and directly archive large unstructured data sets, including NAS backups. The platform enables organizations to scan data to verify clean restore points before committing them to long-term retention, helping maintain a trusted last line of defense for recovery.
Security and compliance are central to the offering, which strengthens overall resilience by supporting Veeam’s 3-2-1-1-0 rule. The archived storage is immutable, encrypted, and logically air-gapped. It also supports privacy through customer-controlled key management and helps meet compliance requirements through user-defined data placement and recoverability to alternate locations.
Veeam positions this fully managed cloud archive as a modern alternative to traditional tape storage. It eliminates the friction and risks associated with physical media, such as manual handling, transport, offsite logistics, management overhead, and delayed recovery. The release allows organizations to maintain a trusted long-term copy of their data securely and with operational simplicity.
