KnowBe4 has officially expanded its email and collaboration security portfolio with the launch of Defend for Google Workspace. Targeting phishing, business email compromise, and AI-driven threats, the new product brings advanced threat detection and real-time employee coaching to organizations utilizing Gmail and related workspace tools.
At its core, the platform utilizes a behavioral AI model trained on KnowBe4’s proprietary telemetry of over 1.15 billion daily event signals. The system evaluates incoming messages across multiple intent signals simultaneously to intercept zero-payload phishing, credential harvesting, and prompt injection attacks that native controls often miss.
Rather than acting solely as a silent blockade, Defend sends immediate warnings and visual labels to recipients when a risky email is detected, turning live incidents into actionable training moments. Once a malicious variant is confirmed, integration with KnowBe4’s PhishER Plus automatically neutralizes matching threats across all enterprise inboxes in under two minutes.
Early adopter results across customer environments demonstrated immediate operational value. Across 539,384 processed emails, the platform intercepted 810 dangerous threats – averaging one in every 666 messages – while uncovering 5,491 suspicious emails that bypassed native defenses. In addition to categorizing 361,070 productivity emails, early participants saved an average of nearly 11 hours per week on triage and investigation.
Chief Product Officer Greg Kras noted that bringing explainable AI detection and real-time coaching into a single, API-native layer ensures every blocked threat serves as a teachable moment. Defend for Google Workspace is scheduled for general availability on September 15, 2026, catering to businesses of all sizes running the Google platform.
