e& UAE has officially been named the World’s Fastest Mobile Network for the first half of 2026, according to the latest Speedtest Awards by Ookla. This recognition reinforces the operator’s position as a global leader in mobile network performance, demonstrating consistent investment in cutting-edge telecommunications infrastructure.
The Ookla Speedtest Awards determine global rankings using a proprietary Speed Score, which evaluates a network’s overall throughput and responsiveness. To secure the top spot, e& UAE had to outperform international telecommunications giants across millions of consumer-initiated tests.
The Speed Score methodology weighs three core performance indicators: download speeds, upload speeds, and latency. Download speeds, which account for 70% of the score, are the most critical factor for day-to-day user experience, determining how fast users can stream, browse, and retrieve large files. Upload speeds make up 20% of the score and are essential for content creation, video conferencing, and rapid cloud syncing. Finally, latency accounts for the remaining 10%, serving as a measure of network responsiveness that dictates the quality of real-time applications and mobile gaming.
To qualify as a global top provider, an operator’s Speedtest results must account for at least 3% of the sample size in their geographic area, and the provider must have already secured a national-level award for the same category.
e& UAE’s continued dominance in these metrics highlights the success of the region’s aggressive 5G rollout and network optimization strategies. This latest accolade places e& UAE at the forefront of the global telecommunications industry, setting a high standard for connectivity, accessibility, and digital infrastructure as the market moves through the remainder of 2026.
