The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) have formalized a joint strategic initiative to scale digital literacy, capacity building, and technical skills development across Nigeria.
The tripartite collaboration accelerates Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda by pairing international training standards with national regulatory support and specialized academic infrastructure, aligning directly with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy’s strategic talent targets.
The partnership focuses on standardizing and democratizing digital education across all six geopolitical zones to bridge the rural-urban digital divide and strengthen youth employability. National training modules are aligned directly with the ITU Digital Transformation Centres framework, establishing global baseline certifications across basic, intermediate, and advanced digital competencies.
DBI is deploying its specialized training facilities in Abuja, Lagos, and Kano alongside NITDA’s nationwide network of community IT hubs and Digital Economy Centres to deliver the programs. The curriculum incorporates targeted tracks for women, underserved youth, people with disabilities, and small enterprise operators, alongside foundational e-government modules designed to modernize public administrative efficiency.
Under the operational division of labor, NITDA steers policy implementation, regulatory compliance, and funding alignment with national talent pipelines. The ITU provides global technical advisory support, impact benchmarking, and curriculum governance, while DBI directs ground execution, classroom laboratories, candidate assessments, and professional certifications.
The structured syllabus covers entry-level computer basics and digital financial tools, intermediate competencies in cybersecurity hygiene and data analytics, and advanced tracks in cloud systems, artificial intelligence fundamentals, and telecommunications network maintenance.
The nationwide rollout is deploying across phased cohort cycles administered through digital registration portals managed by DBI and NITDA. By pooling administrative authority, international institutional backing, and physical classroom infrastructure, the initiative creates a scalable pipeline to integrate both formal and informal learners into the national digital workforce.
