In a major push toward financial inclusion and digital economy participation, MTN MoMo, in collaboration with Inkomoko, has successfully graduated 1,225 entrepreneurs in Juba, South Sudan. The joint year-long programme was designed to bolster digital financial literacy and expand the adoption of mobile money among small businesses operating in the region.
Inkomoko provided crucial business guidance and seed funding, while MTN MoMo facilitated practical, hands-on digital financial literacy training. Through the programme, participating entrepreneurs were equipped with actionable skills to integrate mobile money into their day-to-day operations.
The training focused on enabling businesses to accept digital payments seamlessly, sell airtime as an additional revenue stream, and provide cash-in services to their local communities. These capabilities are expected to directly assist small business owners in improving their cash-flow management, expanding their access to essential digital financial services, and unlocking new avenues for sustainable business growth.
The recent graduation ceremony drew representatives from several key institutions and development partners, including delegates from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the National Chamber of Commerce, the Mastercard Foundation, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Speakers praised the graduates for their resilience and emphasized that driving entrepreneurship requires robust partnerships across the private sector, government bodies, and development organizations. To mark its central role in driving these efforts, MTN Fintech was presented with an Award of Recognition at the ceremony, celebrating its ongoing contribution to entrepreneurship development and financial inclusion across the country.
