MTN MoMo Uganda and dfcu Bank Uganda have officially reaffirmed their strategic partnership, signaling a renewed commitment to expanding the country’s digital financial ecosystem. The collaboration aims to explore opportunities to create greater value for customers, merchants, and mobile money agents nationwide.
The reaffirmation took place during a high-level engagement at the MTN MoMo Uganda head office, where a dfcu Bank delegation led by Chief Executive Officer Charles Mudiwa met with the MTN MoMo leadership team, headed by Managing Director Phrase Lubega. The discussions centered on strengthening the longstanding relationship between the two financial institutions and reviewing new opportunities to deepen collaboration within Uganda’s rapidly evolving digital finance landscape.
During the meeting, leadership from both organizations assessed the progress achieved through their existing partnership and aligned on shared priorities for the future. The talks focused on exploring new ways to make everyday financial transactions simpler, developing solutions that respond directly to the evolving needs of individuals to support business growth, and extending financial access to more communities. Both parties recognize the importance of reinforcing the networks that connect merchants, customers, and agents across the country.
Both institutions emphasized that robust, ongoing collaborations are essential to keep pace with changing customer demands and to drive sustainable inclusion. This renewed commitment builds upon a strong foundation of joint initiatives, including the successful launch of the MoMo Agent Loans Marketplace – a digital platform designed to tackle agent liquidity challenges by providing instant access to working capital. By continuing to pool their expertise, MTN MoMo and dfcu Bank are positioning themselves to further accelerate Uganda’s transition toward a fully inclusive digital economy.
