As the United Arab Emirates accelerates its shift toward a digital-first economy, the financial services landscape is evolving rapidly to meet consumer demands for seamless, cashless transactions.
In a major step toward broader financial inclusion and flexibility, Botim, the UAE’s leading fintech platform and part of the Astra Tech ecosystem, has collaborated with Mastercard to launch the Mastercard One Credential in Dubai. This launch marks the first rollout of the One Credential solution in the UAE and across the broader Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, underscoring a joint commitment to product innovation.
Mastercard One Credential links a single payment product to multiple funding sources through a seamless digital interface. For eligible Botim cardholders, this means greater flexibility and control over how they access and manage everyday payments. Instead of carrying multiple physical or virtual cards, users can seamlessly switch between prepaid balances and credit funding within a single scalable solution. For first-time credit users, the technology serves as a simplified entry point by embedding credit access directly into an existing card experience they already trust. Additionally, Botim cardholders can access funds across multiple currencies, convert any purchase into simple, flexible installments, and gain clearer visibility over card transactions and overall financial management.
The integration directly responds to rising consumer demand. According to Mastercard’s global consumer research, 83% of surveyed UAE consumers indicated they would utilize card installments through the One Credential capability. The deepened agreement builds on more than two years of Mastercard-backed card issuance by Botim Money, setting a joint roadmap to expand payment solutions and everyday payment access.
“At Botim, we believe financial services should improve how people access and manage everyday financial lives. Our work with Mastercard reflects a shared commitment to fostering greater choice, transparency, and confidence in digital payments. By bringing this capability to Botim cardholders, we are providing a more practical and trusted way to pay, while continuing to build a platform that can support long-term financial participation and create sustainable value.” said Dr. Tariq Bin Hendi, Board Member at Astra Tech and CEO of Botim.
“Consumers increasingly expect payment experiences that are secure, simple, and embedded in their everyday digital lives. By combining Mastercard’s One Credential technology with Botim’s digital platform, we are simplifying how cardholders access and manage different payment methods through one scalable solution.” said Gina Petersen-Skyrme, Senior Vice President and Country Manager, UAE and Oman, Mastercard.
A key feature of Botim Money’s overarching card program is its focus on accessibility. Cards are offered without minimum salary requirements, widening eligibility across the UAE’s diverse resident base. This strategic partnership aligns closely with regional economic goals, particularly as Dubai targets 90% of all transactions to be cashless by 2026. By implementing flexible, regulated, digital-first card programs, and expanding cross-border remittance capabilities to over 150 countries, Botim and Mastercard are laying the essential infrastructure to support the region’s long-term financial shift.
