Port Sudan: TECHz – News Desk
The Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications of Sudan has announced the rollout of USSD-based banking services in coordination with the Central Bank of Sudan and the Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority. The initiative, guided by Eng. Ahmed Dardery, Minister of Digital Transformation and Telecommunications, will be available starting next week and is designed to provide citizens with convenient access to financial services via mobile phones, even in areas without internet access or where mobile banking apps are difficult to use during peak periods.
The first phase of services will include essential banking functions such as interpersonal bank transfers, credit inquiries, and transaction summaries. By leveraging the widespread use of mobile phones, the Ministry aims to expand digital financial services, promote financial inclusion, and support family-oriented programs across Sudan.
The Ministry emphasized that the initiative is being implemented in close coordination with partners in the telecom and banking sectors. Service providers will announce operational details and specific offerings based on their respective areas of expertise. This step reflects Sudan’s ongoing efforts to create a robust organizational and technical environment for digital finance.
