Cloud-native banking platform provider Mambu has officially launched Intelligent Core, an open architecture designed to natively integrate agentic AI into core banking and payment systems. Moving away from the traditional approach of “bolting on” AI to legacy infrastructure, the platform allows AI agents to perform autonomous, real-time actions directly on the banking ledger.
The architecture combines 15 years of composable banking evolution into a unified system connecting the foundational Mambu Core ledger, Mambu Payments for streamlined operations, and a new Mambu Agentic native intelligence layer. This intelligence layer powers automated banking workflows by utilizing the Model Context Protocol, allowing enterprise AI models to connect securely to the core for real-time data access without months of custom integration.
It further incorporates AI Insights to provide a curated, trustworthy data layer that continuously surfaces risks and opportunities, alongside configurable Pre-Built Action Agents that gather data, reason within strict guardrails, and execute authorized tasks while explaining every decision they make.
According to Mambu CEO Fernando Zandona, the platform is designed to answer the industry’s shift from questioning whether to adopt AI to demanding how it can run reliably at scale. By embedding intelligence directly into the ledger, financial institutions can automate high-volume operational tasks while delivering personalized services faster and with significantly less operational overhead.
