San Francisco-based AI interactive content startup Flam has successfully raised $40 million in its Series B funding round. The round was led by QED Investors, with participation from new and existing backers including Claypond Capital, Australian Gulf Capital, Martin Chavez, Olivier Pomel, Venky Harinarayan, and the SRK Family Office (Shah Rukh Khan).
Existing investors RTP Global and Dovetail also doubled down on their investments. Founded in 2021, Flam has built a platform designed to make interactive media as effortless to produce and deploy as standard video. The company plans to use the fresh capital to expand its proprietary AI research, enhance its product suite, and scale its enterprise sales operations globally.
“Content has moved in waves, from text to images to video, and every wave flowed one way, creator to viewer,” said Shourya Agarwal, Founder of Flam. “We think interactive is the next default for the internet. The demand was always there. The technology wasn’t. We have made interactivity effortless to build and deploy at enterprise scale.”
The company’s technology stack relies on over 15 patents and three primary AI models that enable highly responsive interactive formats. Flicks are interactive videos that allow viewers to switch persons, products, or scenes mid-playback, using a patented compression algorithm and Flam’s Forge editing model to deliver seamlessly at a 50ms time-to-first-buffer. Airboards provide high-fidelity 3D content layered over a camera interface.
Generated by the Fable image-to-video model, these assets stream in under 300ms without requiring an app download, supporting touch, voice, and haptic interactions. Lastly, Visual Agents are human-like conversational AI avatars that function as interactive video calls. These agents are powered by a 26-billion-parameter MoE LLM named Falcon, Fantom for facial expressions, and Finesse for multilingual voice synthesis.
Flam has witnessed exceptional commercial traction, onboarding over 100 enterprise customers within the last six quarters. Major brands such as Google, State Farm, Grab, KFC, and Diageo currently leverage the platform for marketing, product visualization, customer support, learning and development, and fan engagement. The company is reportedly on a path to reach $100 million in annual recurring revenue by next year.
QED Investors’ leadership cited this unique combination of infrastructure and commercial validation as the catalyst for the investment. “Almost every frontier AI content company we see is optimizing what already exists. Flam pointed at something else: how much of the content ecosystem is still untouched,” said Nigel Morris, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at QED Investors. Sandeep Patil, Partner at QED Investors, added, “Every major shift in internet content has created new platforms and new winners. What tells us Flam will be one is not just the growth rate but also the pace of their AI research and the partners choosing to build on it.”
