HPE and Oracle expand collaboration to scale global AI infrastructure

Houston – TECHzMagazine – News Desk

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and Oracle Corporation have announced a major expansion of their technological partnership to accelerate the deployment of gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure globally. Announced on September 2, 2026, the multi-year initiative targets the rising demands of massive AI superclusters by integrating HPE Juniper Networking hardware across Oracle’s global data center footprint.

The agreement centers around scaling Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) by rolling out a comprehensive suite of routing and switching platforms across its data centers worldwide, including HPE Juniper PTX and MX routing platforms alongside QFX and EX switches. These QFX switches will deliver the high-density connectivity, dynamic load balancing, and advanced congestion management necessary to optimize large-scale RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCEv2) AI backend networks.

Beyond pure hardware scaling, a core pillar of the enhanced collaboration is the joint engineering of intelligent telemetry. As AI workloads require continuous GPU performance, the two companies are embedding deeper visibility metrics directly into device and fabric behaviors to provide early detection of queue buildups, packet loss, traffic imbalances, and component degradation. Praveen Jain, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Data Center and AI Networking at HPE, noted that every microsecond matters to AI models and agents, and this integration allows OCI to rapidly find and mitigate bottlenecks to increase the holistic efficiency of underlying AI factories.

This expansion builds on more than ten years of collaborative engineering work between Oracle and Juniper Networks, which was recently acquired by HPE. Mahesh Thiagarajan, Executive Vice President of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, emphasized that building infrastructure at Oracle’s current scale demands an integrated ecosystem where every hardware and software layer coordinates smoothly. To solidify the strategic alignment of this agreement, HPE has issued Oracle warrants to purchase shares of HPE common stock, while the overall pact guarantees long-term networking support services alongside custom financing capabilities to sustain the massive structural buildout.
