Huawei has officially launched its Agentic AI Cloud and a suite of related artificial intelligence solutions. Unveiled on August 27, 2026, the initiative is designed to upgrade local cloud capabilities and accelerate the deployment of Agentic AI across the finance, telecommunications, internet, government, and enterprise sectors. Building on the established strengths of data residency, security, and low latency, Huawei aims to equip local businesses with the tools to develop and deploy AI agents more efficiently, translating AI technologies into tangible industry value.
During the launch event, Austin You, CEO of Huawei Nigeria, emphasized that Nigeria has the foundation to lead Africa’s AI era, committing to turning that foundation into intelligent productivity through deep local capabilities and an open ecosystem. The technology rollout aligns closely with the goals of Nigeria’s National Sovereign Cloud Initiative, which seeks to build a secure, resilient ecosystem to attract investment and transition the nation into Africa’s premier hub for AI and cloud innovation. Lagos State is simultaneously enhancing its digital infrastructure to foster true AI implementation, positioning the city as a testing and deployment ground for these advanced systems.
Having operated in Nigeria for 27 years, Huawei has steadily expanded its footprint from basic network connectivity to advanced cloud and AI infrastructure. This journey included the 2024 launch of its hyperscale local cloud for domestic data storage, followed by industry-level upgrades in 2025 for heightened security and industrial digitalization. The introduction of the Agentic AI Cloud marks a pivotal shift from simple data hosting to the delivery of intelligent, AI-native services.
Roc Bai, Managing Director of Huawei Cloud Nigeria, underscored that with Huawei Cloud as a trusted local foundation, AI can turn local data, industry knowledge, and business needs into real intelligence and lasting value. Moving forward, Huawei plans to continue its collaboration with the Nigerian government, ecosystem partners, and developers to strengthen cloud-AI integration and build out localized intelligent industries.
