Egypt has firmly positioned itself as a heavyweight in the global tech delivery market, with its outsourcing and offshoring sector generating a record $5.2 billion in 2025. Fueled by a massive surge in artificial intelligence adoption, robust infrastructure investments, and a highly skilled talent pool, the country’s information and communications technology sector continues to be its fastest-growing industry.
The $5.2 billion generated from outsourcing is the cornerstone of a broader national milestone, as Egypt logged a total of $7.4 billion in digital exports last year. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has set aggressive targets to maintain this 14% to 16% annual growth rate, aiming to push outsourcing exports to $6 billion by the end of the current fiscal year and total digital exports to $10 billion by 2030.
A defining factor in this growth is Egypt’s strategic pivot toward AI and high-value digital services, heavily backed by private and foreign capital. For the 2026/2027 fiscal year, the ministry is targeting EGP 138.9 billion in ICT sector investments, while the National AI Strategy aims to attract over $150 million in venture capital and foster the creation of over 250 domestic AI companies. Egypt’s success as a premier outsourcing destination, centered around tech hubs in Cairo and 6th of October City, hinges on its vast, multilingual workforce.
To secure long-term capacity, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency recently signed 55 memorandums of understanding with major technology firms to create over 70,000 new high-value jobs over the next three years. Supported by major partnerships with companies like IBM and Microsoft, the country is actively upskilling its pipeline of 140,000 annual STEM graduates to develop 30,000 specialized AI professionals. With competitive operating costs and integrated government support, Egypt is successfully transitioning from traditional BPO call centers into a global hub for complex engineering, software development, and AI-driven services.
