In a move aimed at accelerating enterprise AI adoption without compromising data control, Cloudera has unveiled Cloudera Anywhere Cloud™. This new hybrid data and AI platform is designed to let organizations build, deploy, and scale production-grade AI applications seamlessly across multi-cloud, sovereign infrastructure, and on-premises environments. According to Cloudera, the platform promises to bring “cloud-native agility” directly to enterprise data wherever it resides, addressing the operational hurdles that keep many AI initiatives stuck in the experimental phase.
As companies rush to operationalize artificial intelligence, they are frequently hitting infrastructure walls. According to recent Cloudera research, a staggering 73% of IT leaders report that infrastructure performance constraints and fragmented environments have hindered their operational AI initiatives. Moving massive amounts of sensitive enterprise data to the public cloud solely for AI workloads is often too slow, expensive, and risky from a compliance standpoint. Conversely, leaving data locked in rigid, siloed on-premises infrastructure stalls innovation. This friction has sparked what Cloudera calls “The Great AI Re-Architecture,” with 95% of enterprises delaying AI projects due to infrastructure limitations.
Designed to operate standalone or complement existing massive data lakes, Cloudera Anywhere Cloud provides a unified single control plane for managing data and AI workflows without requiring sensitive data to be migrated. The platform utilizes a modular architecture that allows organizations to deploy independent data and AI services through self-service blueprints, granting access to engines like Apache Spark, Kafka, and Trino alongside partner and open-source components. It also features a plain-language agentic copilot that translates user requests into automated workflows, enabling developers to launch AI capabilities directly against their proprietary data. All of this is managed under a centrally governed, zero-trust model to ensure continuous data lineage and digital sovereignty. To prevent vendor lock-in, the system heavily utilizes open data formats and standards, including Apache Iceberg and the Polaris catalog.
“Enterprise AI has outgrown the public cloud-only model,” said Leo Brunnick, Chief Product Officer at Cloudera. “Organizations shouldn’t have to choose between innovation and control. Cloudera Anywhere Cloud brings the speed and flexibility of the cloud directly to enterprise data. This allows enterprises to accelerate AI initiatives while maintaining complete ownership of their data and intellectual property, all while optimizing the cost of their infrastructure, tokens, and business models.”
By enabling companies to optimize workload placement based on cost, performance, and regulatory requirements – without physically copying or moving their data – Cloudera aims to provide a consistent foundation for analytics and agentic AI at enterprise scale. The launch positions the company as a critical enabler for organizations looking to finally push their ambitious AI projects out of the lab and into real-world production.
