Mozambique’s National Institute of Information and Communication Technologies presented its proposed National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence to Vodacom Mozambique during a high-level consultation in Maputo. Led by INTIC Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Eng. Lourino Chemane, the meeting served to advance national digital policy and welcome Vodacom’s new CEO, Salimo Abdula.
Developed with technical support from UNESCO and multilateral partners, the draft framework focuses on expanding digital inclusion, automating public services, driving private-sector innovation, and setting ethical data security standards. Vodacom Mozambique agreed to review the proposal and submit policy recommendations to support sector harmonisation.
The roadmap builds on Mozambique’s cybersecurity, cybercrime, and cloud infrastructure regulations. Future joint initiatives will target e-commerce rules, data privacy, and Public Key Infrastructure enhancement as Mozambique positions itself to become a regional data center hub.
