Cairo-based e-commerce infrastructure startup Fincart has successfully closed an oversubscribed $2.8 million Seed funding round to accelerate the development of its AI-powered merchant platform and prepare for broader regional expansion.
The round was co-led by Launch Africa and Antler MENAP, with additional participation from Yango Ventures, Five35 Ventures, Bluestream Capital, Hi2 Global, Kalahari Venture Labs, and several other regional investors. This latest capital injection builds upon the company’s pre-Seed round closed in early 2025, which was led by Plus VC alongside Orbit Ventures and Plug and Play.
Founded in 2023 by former Careem, Glovo, Vodafone, and Delivery Hero executives Mostafa Masry and Nihal Ali, Fincart was built to address the deeply fragmented nature of e-commerce in emerging markets. Operating a digital storefront in the region often forces small and medium-sized businesses to juggle disconnected logistics providers, scattered customer support channels, and complex cash-on-delivery reconciliation processes.
Rather than functioning as a standard shipping tool, Fincart operates as an end-to-end AI-powered operating system. The platform integrates directly with more than 40 courier companies across the continent, allowing merchants to manage their entire post-purchase workflow from a single dashboard. This includes automated cash reconciliation, shipping management, customer engagement, and even revenue-based financing that provides merchants with short-term working capital based on their sales data.
The demand for consolidated e-commerce infrastructure has driven significant organic growth for the startup. Fincart currently serves over 450 enterprise clients and merchants across various sectors, including fashion, electronics, cosmetics, and accessories. To date, the platform has facilitated nearly EGP 1 billion (approximately $20 million) in gross merchandise value. Notably, the company reports that nearly 40% of its new customers have been acquired through organic referrals without any marketing spend, signaling a strong product-market fit in a market dominated by cash-on-delivery transactions.
With this fresh capital, Fincart plans to aggressively scale its commercial and engineering teams while further developing its underlying AI capabilities. The funding will also be utilized to establish new strategic partnerships, setting the groundwork for the company to expand its operations into new markets across the broader Middle East and Africa by 2027.
Lina Kacyem, investment manager at Launch Africa, noted that Egypt’s e-commerce market remains one of the most compelling infrastructure opportunities in the region – high in volume but deeply underserved at the SME level. As the ecosystem matures, platforms like Fincart are positioning themselves as the critical digital backbone for the next generation of online merchants.
