The Ministère de l’Education Nationale et de l’Alphabétisation has entered a new phase in the digital transformation of Guinea’s education system following the official launch of a national registration platform for primary school pupils. Just 24 hours after the platform went live, the Guinean educational administration began the technical and operational rollout of the tool, focusing on ensuring effective adoption by education officials across the country.
The reform, initiated under the leadership of Alpha Bacar Barry, Minister of National Education, Literacy, Technical Education and Vocational Training, seeks to establish a reliable, comprehensive, and secure digital register for pupils from the moment they enter primary school. The initiative represents a major structural change aimed at improving data accuracy and long-term monitoring within the national education system.
As part of this process, examiners and data managers from the Regional Inspections of Education (IREs), Prefectural Directorates of Education (DPEs), and Municipal Directorates of Education (DCEs) are undergoing intensive training. The sessions are coordinated by the General Directorate of Examinations and School Control and are designed to ensure full mastery of the new digital platform by frontline education administrators.
The training, delivered through practical and interactive workshops, covers key areas such as student registration procedures, reliable data collection, digital database management, and the security and regular updating of school records. A central objective of the platform is to guarantee the uniqueness of each pupil within the education system, while strengthening the traceability of their academic journey from primary school onward.
Beyond its technical dimensions, the initiative reflects a clear political commitment to modernizing educational governance in Guinea. By leveraging accurate and timely data from the earliest stages of schooling, the government aims to improve education planning, better anticipate infrastructure and teacher requirements, and enhance equity in access to educational services nationwide.
With the growing capacity of decentralized education actors, the primary school registration platform is already emerging as a strategic tool for Guinea’s digital education reform. By placing educational data at the center of public decision-making, the Ministry is laying the groundwork for a more transparent, efficient, and inclusive education system.
