The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has successfully completed the first phase of its 2026 Kids Long Vacation Coding Bootcamp, equipping young Nigerians in Kano, Kwara, Jigawa, and Gombe states with foundational digital skills. The intensive training program focused on catching tech talent early and introducing children to the fast-evolving technological landscape.
In partnership with key industry stakeholders, the initiative offered hands-on learning experiences. The comprehensive curriculum immersed participants in coding, computational thinking, and digital creativity, encouraging them to design and innovate using modern tools. Students were also introduced to emerging technologies to future-proof their skill sets, while simultaneously developing critical soft skills like collaboration, persistence, and problem-solving.
During the closing ceremonies, participating children received certificates and digital gadgets to support their ongoing education. Representing NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, Special Duties Office Director Babajide Ajayi praised the students as young digital creators, innovators, and potential technology leaders.
Ajayi urged the participants to apply their newly acquired skills to practical projects and called on parents to nurture their children’s digital interests into lifelong careers. While the first four locations have concluded, NITDA confirmed that similar training activities are currently rolling out across the South-South, South-East, and South-West regions as part of a nationwide push to build a globally competitive digital workforce.
